Cory Wride Memorial Park next phase to begin construction
The City Council has awarded bids to begin construction on the next phase of Cory B. Wride Memorial Park, a 65 acre regional park in the mid-valley area of Eagle Mountain City (off of Pony Express Pkwy between Ranches Pkwy and Eagle Mountain Blvd.). This new phase, designated as 1b, will include an interactive splash pad and playground spaces.
Cory B. Wride Memorial Park was originally known as Mid-Valley Park. The park originated with a $1 million land donation from the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA), along with grant monies. It was renamed in 2015 on the first anniversary of Sgt. Cory Wride, of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office – Eagle Mountain Division, being killed in the line of duty. The first phase of the park, 1a, began construction in 2009, resulting in a playing field space on the east side of Pony Express Pkwy and baseball diamonds on the west. The final components of phase 1a, including restrooms, a concessions building, additional playing fields and a parking lot are currently being completed.
Phase 1b is being funded by utility sale proceeds and impact fees revenue in the amount of approximately $5 million. It is expected to be completed by the end of May 2018.
Following is the design plan presentation for phase 1b. Please note - the splash pad images are representative of the concept and not specific to this project.
